The story starts when the founder the late Mr. Saleh Abdulla AlSaleh a resolute man in the small country island of Bahrain founded Saleh Al-Saleh Co. W.L.L. in 1935 when he decided to venture into the food trading business.
He started as a retailer of produce goods in the local market, and then expanded his operations by importing food goods from Persia, using the barter system, and steadily expanded his dealings with other merchants from Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. He also ventured in the agriculture area, importing seeds and chemical fertilizer from the United States, France, and India. An important milestone for the company was in the 50’s when it rose to become the main supplier of produce goods to the government hospitals, and to Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) the largest employer at the time.
During its time the company evolved, passing through a number of stages of restructuring. Lastly, in 1990, the company spun off all businesses not related to the trading segment and was reorganized under the leadership of Mr. Yusuf Saleh AlSaleh, son of the founder and serving as the chairman and managing director of the company to focus solely on its trading business and hence transformed the company into a leading wholesaler and distributor of food items in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Today, the company celebrates its rich history and heritage, and is buoyant about it future inspired by the freshness of its evolving workforce. The company stays true to the values and traditions set forth by its founder that calls for practicing the highest level of ethics and integrity along with the keens to modernize and innovate, and is zealous to partake in the ever changing and exciting global marketplace.
